Chat Mode: Complete Guide
Overview
Chat is where most AI Studio interactions begin. It's designed for quick questions, exploration, and iterative analysis. Chat maintains conversational context, allowing you to refine questions and explore deeper based on what you learn.
How Chat Works
1. Ask Your Question
Type your question in natural language. Be as specific or broad as you want:
"How does nike.com compare to adidas.com in traffic?"
2. Receive Instant Answer
AI Studio analyzes relevant datasets and provides a comprehensive response in seconds, typically including:
- Direct answer to your question
- Supporting data and metrics
- Context and insights
- Visual elements (tables, comparisons) when helpful
3. Ask Follow-up Questions
Chat remembers the context of your conversation:
You: "What about their mobile traffic specifically?"
AI Studio: [provides mobile breakdown, understanding you're still talking about Nike vs Adidas]
Conversational Context
Chat maintains context throughout your conversation. You don't need to repeat the same information over and over.
Chat Best Practices
Be Conversational
Write questions as you would ask a colleague:
- ✅ "How is Spotify doing compared to Apple Music?"
- ❌ "traffic.comparison(spotify.com, music.apple.com)"
Provide Context When Needed
Help AI Studio understand your intent:
- ✅ "Compare Shopify and WooCommerce for e-commerce platform traffic"
- ✅ "Show me SaaS companies in the marketing automation space"
Use Follow-ups Strategically
Build on previous answers and check the recommended follow-up questions AI Studio provides.

Keyword Performance Tracking
Prompt:
"Build a keyword dashboard for my target keywords [import from keyword list]. Show ranking positions, search volume, traffic share, and highlight any significant changes."

Prompt:
"Dashboard showing my traffic sources breakdown: organic, paid, social, referral, direct. Compare to [top competitor]. Show monthly trends for last 6 months."
AI Dashboards Best Practices
1. Start with Clear Objectives
Define what you're monitoring and why:

2. Choose Appropriate Timeframes
Consider your monitoring frequency:
- Daily monitoring: Website health, campaign performance
- Weekly monitoring: Ranking changes, traffic spikes
- Monthly monitoring: Competitive trends, market share
- Quarterly monitoring: Strategic positioning, long-term growth
3. Limit Entities for Clarity
Don't overcrowd:
- 5-7 competitors for comparison charts

- Top 10 players for market category views
You can always create multiple dashboards for different groups.
