What’s the difference between store downloads and install base?
Store Downloads are the estimated number of times an app has been downloaded in a selected period of time. This metric is based on Similarweb’s proprietary algorithm, relying on both public and contributory network data sources, and represent unique downloads. Store Downloads will only be counted once per a mobile user’s unique Google Play Account. Re-installs/downloads or app updates would not count as new downloads.
Install base, on the other hand, is the estimated average number of devices with the app installed in the selected period. Install base is relying on data.ai’s proprietary algorithms and the number of devices in its panels that have a particular app installed during the time period. The metric is specific to a month and is not tethered to the month before. Install base considers when an app is installed on or uninstalled from a device in the panel population.
