Note: This metric is only available for Android apps.

What is the value of store downloads?

App Store Downloads is one the key app performance metrics in the mobile app ecosystem.

By tracking Store Downloads, we can observe whether an app’s number of unique new downloads is growing over time and identify new competitors in the market

Calculation

Store downloads are based on Similarweb’s proprietary algorithm relying on both public and panel data sources, and represents unique downloads. Store Downloads will only be counted once per a mobile user’s unique Google Play Account. Re-installs/downloads or app updates would not count as new downloads.

How to use

  1. Within the Competitive Research tool, navigate to App Analysis.

  2. Enter an app in the search or choose from your list of saved apps and go to the Store Downloads page.

  3. To target your analysis:

    - Click +Add to compare up to 5 competitors.
    - Using the filters in the upper right, select the country, time period, and device type you'd like to analyze.
