Monthly Active Users

The average number of active users per month who have used the app in a given period. We define an active user as a device having 1 or more foreground sessions within an app during the selected period.

Note

We do not differentiate users and devices, and we always assume 1 unique user per unique device.

FAQs

How does a user get counted as a monthly active user (MAU)? Does downloading the app count, or do they have to open it?

For iOS, it is counted when an app is connected to a network. For Android, it is counted when the app is opened as foreground.
