Exporting Category Sales Performance Data

With the latest Shopper 2.0 enhancements and the rollout of Child ASIN-level data, you now have more detailed visibility into category performance, including individual product variations. Taking this to the next level is our new Category Sales Performance report in the Data Hub.

What is the Value?

The Category Sales Performance export comes with our new Shopper 2.0 data to unlock powerful new ways to analyze and act on category sales data:

  • Granular Visibility: With 2.0's Child ASIN-level insights, you can differentiate between product variations within a category rather than relying on aggregated metrics.

  • Flexible Data Export: Easily export up to 1,000 products directly from the Category Sales Performance chart for customized analysis. For even larger datasets, the Data Hub’s Data Exporter removes limits, providing full access to all product variations within a category.

  • Complete Category Analysis: With the ability to breakdown category sales across all of it's Child ASINs available in exports (rather than aggregated views), you can now easily build internal dashboards, perform precise summations and advanced category analysis for PPA (pack price architecture)

  • Efficient Workflow: A simple export process ensures that in-depth reporting and category tracking can be done without heavy manual work, freeing up your time for higher-value tasks like strategic planning and competitive benchmarking.

By leveraging these enhancements, you can more effectively track category dynamics, identify trends at the product variation level, and make better-informed business decisions with a complete and customizable dataset at your fingertips.

How to Export Up To 1,000 Products

This is high level analysis of up to 1000 products which can be downloaded from the platform which you can use to customize, create charts and graphs, and more. Data credits are not needed for this download.

  1. Click on the Download Excel button in the top-right corner of the chart.

  1. The exported Excel file includes:

    • An Introduction tab with the following information:

      • The selected category
      • The date range
      • Data frequency (weekly or monthly)
      • Time range of the data

💡 Note: The file provides full product view numbers rather than the aggregated views for smaller products, which you would otherwise see in the platform for smaller products lists, allowing you to sum and analyze the entire category.

How to Export More Than 1,000 Products

If you need to analyze more than 1,000 products in a category, use the Data Hub’s Data Exporter. This allows you to bypass the platform’s Excel download limit and export the entire product list as a CSV file. Data credits are needed for this export.

Steps to Export via Data Hub:

  1. From the lefthand menu, select Data Exporter.

  2. Select Amazon Top Product Sales by Category from the available Shopper datasets.

  3. Filter for the category or categories you want to export and choose the product/sales metrics you want to see in your CSV file.

  1. A confirmation message will appear before the file is added to your Downloads folder.
  2. Click on the Export History tab to see previously exported reports.

💡 Note: This method provides access to the complete dataset you’re interested in, enabling detailed, large-scale category analysis beyond the standard 1,000-product limit.
