With NAICS/SIC Codes, Similarweb has enhanced its industry search capabilities which provide you a more precise way to target businesses based on standardized industry classifications. Now within the Sales Intelligence platform, these can be applied to reports to help you find companies within specific industries.

What are NAICS & SIC codes?

NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) and SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) codes are widely used systems that categorize businesses based on their industry. Many companies, especially those in B2B sales, finance, and market research, rely on these codes to identify and segment their target markets.

What is the Value?

By being able to search by NAICS or SIC codes (or both), you can easily pinpoint relevant businesses. With this more precise targeting, you can refine your search and reach the right businesses faster.

  • Bulk entry for up to 500 codes for fast, large-scale searches.
  • Toggle between NAICS and SIC codes, which appear in search results for better visibility.
  • Type to search with auto-suggestions.
  • Select multiple codes via checkboxes.

How to Find?

When setting up your report, you’ll find these new filters under the Industry filter, within the search section, simply select industry and include any NAICS code, based on the American Standard Codes found here.

FAQ

What are SIC and NAICS codes?
SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) and NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes categorize businesses by industry. They help identify companies based on their primary activities.

How is this different from an industry filter?

Industry filters group companies into broad categories, while SIC and NAICS codes often offer a more precise classification, helping you target niche segments more accurately.

In addition, they are not unique to Similarweb, making it easier if you have existing flows and processes to find what you are looking for and store it in your systems.

How does the SIC/NAICS filter work?
You can input specific SIC or NAICS codes to find companies in relevant industries. The filter supports searching by individual codes or multiple selections.

Can I use both SIC and NAICS codes together?
Yes, you can filter by SIC, NAICS, or both. Using both may broaden or refine your search depending on the industries covered.

Where can I find SIC or NAICS codes for my target companies?
You can look up codes via government databases (e.g., NAICS.com, Census.gov) or check the values for a specific company you are looking for.

What if a company has multiple SIC or NAICS codes?
Companies with multiple codes will appear in the results if at least one of their codes matches your filter criteria.
