As part of ongoing updates and improvements to our App Intelligence data, we’re going to perform a data update starting on September 20 through September 22, 2023 affecting all App Intelligence Standard users.
To align data to previous estimates, and allow an apples-to-apples comparison over an extended period of time, we will also perform a rerun, which will update data estimates going back to November 1, 2020.
Why the change?
We've implemented new algorithms and integrated additional data signals. The combination of these updates enables us to make more accurate App Data estimations by both trend and scale compared to our old algorithm. These upgrades provide estimations more representative of an app's usage.
What metrics are impacted?
The update will impact the following metrics:
Android, across all available country filters:
Affected Metrics: MAU, Unique Installs
iOS, US Country filter only:
Affected Metrics: MAU
- This release will impact Similarweb App Intelligence data. This means all relevant Similarweb App Intelligence data within our platform and any data pulled/obtained from our API will be impacted.
- Historical Data: Upon release of the new algorithm, all relevant historical data (through November 1, 2020) in the platform will change. All data will be rerun through the new algorithm to ensure a valid comparison.
What does this mean for you?
Once the update is completed, customers won’t be able to access the old historical data on both the platform and API. They can download and save their historical data in case they want a historical record of the old data. On release date, all estimates will be replaced with new estimates based on the data upgrade.
API users - after the upgrade is completed, clients utilizing our API should pull historical data again to allow seamless and accurate period-over-period comparisons.

Q: After the update is completed will there be a way to pull old data from the platform?
A: It won’t be possible to pull old data after the new data goes live on the platform. Clients who want to have access to old data, should download it before the date of the rerun/release.
